Energy Performance Certificate (EPC)

An energy performance certificate is designed to provide information on the energy performance of a property. This report informs potential buyers on the decision to buy the property. You can expect to see the following information:

  • Energy efficiency rating
  • Environmental impact rating
  • Improvements on improving energy efficiency
  • Estimates on energy usage, heating, hot water, lighting and carbon dioxide emissions

This report also provides information on improvement to make the building more energy efficient.

EPC Report

These reports are found on property listings, and stand-out with the colourful energy rating. These reports are valid for 10 years and are required to be produced when selling a property.

EPC Ratings

The ratings of an EPC are from A to G. A being the highest and most energy efficient to G being the least energy efficient. The report also includes what potential rating the property could obtain along with the recommended improvements to reach its potential rating.

EPC Exemption

Some properties do not require an EPC report, these are normally listed buildings and buildings that are a temporary structure ie. expected to be demolished or taken down.
