Market Commentary
UK Inflation has fallen to 7.90%, a positive marker that the increases to Bank of England in previous month is having an impact on consumer spending. This has in-hand resulted in a slight reduction is SWAP rates, the rates banks and mortgage lenders borrow from. In recent weeks we have seen mortgage-rates continue to increase to 6-7% for most mainstream rates; however with this positive signal in the market there is a glimmer we will see the SWAP rate reductions passed on to consumers via the mortgage rates. The market though is far from stable and in the past 6-12 months we’ve seen the rates move up and down; trying to predict what will happen is almost impossible and therefore when discussing rates with your Mortgage Adviser, focus on your circumstances and what suits you as opposed to guessing the market movement.
