Market Commentry
The Bank of England base rate has increased to 5.00%, the highest in 15 years. The further increase is to aid the inflation rate downward and stop consumer spending. We’ve seen a number of mortgage lenders manically reprice their rates upwards over the past two weeks, therefore majority of pricing as been factored into the repricing in anticipation of the Bank of England increasing the base rate. In our Best Buy Tables, some rates for a 5-year fix still under 5% but majority over 5% and some 95% mortgages now over 6% for First Time Buyers.
