Market Commentary

A manic couple of weeks in the Mortgage-Industry, lenders withdrawing rates at no notice and hiking rates following the news inflation continues to increase. The BoE increases in the previous months haven’t done enough to control inflation, and as a result its predicted BoE may still be set to increase until inflation is under control. The knock-effect to lender margins being squeezed and have now started to increase rates, perhaps slightly overdue. All 2-year fixed rates now above 5%, some 4% rates still around on 5-year low loan to value fixed rates. Advice would be if your mortgage is up for renewal in the next 6 months, now would be the time to speak to an Adviser about locking-in.
